De Matos Ryan completes Southwark playground project

Clerkenwell-based De Matos Ryan has completed this £39,000 revamp of a school playground in Southwark, south London

The play scheme at Charlotte Sharman primary School in Southwark was designed with the pupils and features two timber pavilions, dubded the ‘Clubhouse’ and the ‘Stage’, which provide a setting ‘for storytelling and performance within a fantasised marine landscape’.

According to the practice, headed by partners Angus Morrogh-Ryan and José Esteves de Matos, the playground project includes series of ‘rafts’ - ‘hot spots… in a unique game called Champ devised by the school pupils’.
