Consultation starts on Make’s Elephant and Castle masterplan

Make’s masterplan for the redevelopment of Elephant and Castle in south London has gone out to public consultation

The latest plans for the 2,500-unit residential-led mixed use scheme feature three towers of 25, 27 and 37-storeys and 16,500m² of retail space.

The Lend Lease-backed regeneration project also includes a park, energy centre and 5,000m² of community and cultural space.

‘Quality architectural design’ by a ‘variety of architects’ is described as a key aspiration for the 8.8 hectare inner city site.

The 1960s Heygate estate will be demolished to make way for the new housing which is part of a £1.5 billion regeneration agreement between Lend Lease and local authority Southwark Council.

DRMM and Grant Associates are working on the first 250-home phase which replaces the Rodney Road housing estate nearby.
