Conran & Partners reaveals Walthamstow Stadium scheme

[FIRST LOOK] Conran & Partners has released these images of its £45 million scheme to build 300 homes on the site of Walthamstow Stadium in east London

Conran & Partners is working on the scheme for housing association London and Quadrant (L&Q) and follows in the footsteps of both Assael Architecture and TP Bennett who previously designed projects for the site.

Paul Zara, drector at the practice, said: ‘With the redevelopment of the former Walthamstow Stadium, we are aiming to meet the significant housing needs of the area, whilst at the same time creating a safe, sustainable and enjoyable living environment for future communities.’

Conran & Partners’ design features 300 homes, allotments, a square and cyclist friendly streets. Housing units will also feature smart meters and waste recycling facilities. The studio won the job to redevelop the partially listed 1930s stadium back in August.

Steve Yianni, L&Q regional director, said: ‘Our proposed plans combine housing and social spaces, modern and listed buildings, new streets, footpaths and parking. Our aim is to create a vibrant, high-quality and desirable place to live, that is also sensitive to the site’s unique character.’
