Collective completes 'contemporary tenament'

Collective Architecture has unwrapped this £5.2 million residential block for Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association in Glasgow

Described by the Glasgow-based practice as a ‘contemporary tenament’, the housing block contains 44 three, four and five person flats, five townhouses for six people along with a commercial unit.

Three six-storey blocks linked by two five storey set backs that are clad in zinc, are aligned with the street to reinstate the original urban make-up of the area.

The rear of the building, which contains dual aspect flats arranged around three stairwells, is clad in a smooth brick to differentiate it fromthe front ‘in reference to the traditional tenement’.
