Chipperfield victorious in Reims arts museum contest
[First look] David Chipperfield Architects has won a competition to design the Musée des Beaux-arts in Reims, France
Located between the old and new town of Reims, the scheme features three volumes and a façade composed of translucent marble and glass ceramic panels.
The predominantly naturally lit museum will host art from the past six centuries. A 12 metre-high hall spans an excavation site with mediaeval artefacts.
Construction is planned to start in 2015.
