Chester's King Charles Tower restore by Donald Insall

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS + DATA] Donald Insall Associates has completed the £202,000 restoration of the King Charles Tower, in Chester

The Grade I-listed medieval defensive tower - one of a series of visitor and museum attractions along the route of Chester City Walls - has been renovated with the repair of stonework and windows and the addition of new flooring and seating to make the tower fully accessible to visitors.

A walkway built as part of the European PORTICO project, improves physical access to the walls and creates a space for the assembly of groups and guided tours with views of Chester Cathedral.

Structural repairs and a new ‘space frame’ have halted further movement of the tower’s walls.
