Chelsea Barracks ‘to go ahead’

The £3 billion redevelopment of Chelsea Barracks in West London is reported to be back on track

Jeremy Titchen of project developer Qatari Diar has reassured local authority Westminster City Council the company would ‘progress the scheme’, reported the London Evening Standard.

The commitment comes one week after the backers of the high-profile 5.2 hectare regeneration placed the project on hold.

At the time, the developer said it was ‘refining its strategy’ in light of the ‘prevailing economic environment’.

The controversial scheme won outline planning a year and half ago. Featuring 450 luxury homes and 123 affordable dwellings, the high-profile masterplan was designed by Dixon Jones, Squire and Partners and Kim Wilkie Associates.
