[First look + project data] Casper Mueller Kneer has taken the wraps off its 5,440m² art gallery for White Cube in Bermondsey Street, London
The project – which is part of collaboration between Mueller Kneer Associates and German practice Büro Jens Casper – converted a 1970s warehouse into an art gallery featuring three exhibition spaces, an auditorium and a bookshop.
White Cube founder Jay Jopling said: ‘The opening of White Cube Bermondsey is an affirmation of the ongoing strength of London as a creative hub and the next chapter in White Cube’s history.
‘I’m immensely excited by the opportunities it will give us to expand the range and ambition of all aspects of our programme, not least the chance to make even more quality exhibitions with world-class artists.’
The building is the third White Cube gallery to open in London. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition ‘Structure & Absence’ features work by Andreas Gursky, Wade Guyton, Damien Hirst, Sergej Jensen, Brice Marden, Gabriel Orozco, Sterling Ruby, Robert Ryman and Jeff Wall.
