Carmody Groarke unwraps Swarovski showcase

The Design Museum has opened ‘Digital Crystal’, a multi-sensory exhibition developed in collaboration with Austrian luxury brand Swarovski.

The Carmody Groarke-designed show features 14 unique installations, juxtaposing old and new in exploration of our transitory relationship with objects in the digital age.

The exhibition includes film work by Random International and a Fredrikson Stallard chandelier, among selected pieces from the Swarovski archives.

In a departure from their established Crystal Palace design shows, ‘Digital Crystal’ marks the first time Swarovski have invited innovators to respond to a themed brief.

Deyan Sudjic, director of the Design Museum said, ‘the exhibition questions our relationship with the changing world - it seems all too easy to lose connection with the tangible and the real as we move ever faster through a digital age where memory and personal possessions are now online, or gone in an instant.’

Digital Crystal will run until 13 January 2013.
