CABE unveils intern scheme with support of Stephen Lawrence Trust
CABE has launched a new intern scheme to tackle the under-representation of black communities in the architecture industry
With support from the Stephen Lawrence Trust, six architecture graduates have started a three month paid internship at CABE. They will be based in CABE Space and the public affairs, education and enabling teams.
Each intern will be supported by a line manager and a mentor to help them undertake activities that will support their career development. The programme includes training and the opportunity to attend CABE design review meetings, lectures and visit regeneration, housing and school projects.
The Stephen Lawrence Trust was set up in 1998 to open up architecture and the related professions to disadvantaged young people. The industry is overwhelmingly dominated by white men and only two per cent of registered architects are black.
