Brown replaces Waters as ACA chief
Former GMW Architects supremo Terry Brown has been named as the new president of the Association of Consultant Architects (ACA)
Brown, who still works as a consultant to GMW Architects, takes over from previous chief Brian Waters who had held the role since 2007.
He said: ‘I am honoured to have been elected President of the ACA and I will work to ensure that the ACA continues to raise awareness of the profession and promote best practice.
‘During his four years as President Brian Waters has achieved a great deal and maintained a high profile for the ACA and I intend to continue where he has left of with issues such as fee scales and the role of the architect as well as promoting new ways to maintain the ACA as an essential support to the profession, especially in these difficult times.’
Brown’s forty year career encompasses office, residential and mixed-use schemes in London, its boroughs, the mainland UK and internationally on developments in Moscow, Cairo, Belgium, Romania and Malta. Terry has been Vice President of the ACA since 2009 and Honorary Treasurer since 2008. He is active within the profession being a fellow of the RSA and member of the British Council for Offices, the Town and Country Planning Association,Urban Design Group, Architectural Association, Twentieth Century Society, SPAB and AECB.’
