Broadway Malyan lands Indonesia masterplan

Broadway Malyan has won a contract to masterplan Cilandak Bisnis Square in Jakarta, Indonesia

The 11.7 hectare cluster of high-rise buildings features a business hotel, leisure facilities and retail and is Broadway Malyan’s first project in the country.

The £259.5 million scheme for developer Bhumyamka Sekawan aims to deliver ‘a sustainable business community which provides high-quality office space and a variety of related facilities to attract major international companies,’ - according to a statement by the architect.

Ed Baker, director of masterplanning at Broadway Malyan, said: ‘This prestigious project is drawing on the diverse skills, expertise and experience of our expert global design team of masterplanners, architects and designers, which is partnering with the client and wider project team to deliver a high-quality, user-focused and commercially-successful scheme.

‘It is also our first project in Indonesia, where we are actively growing our business, which is distinguished by its global reach, unrivalled diversity and distinctive client focus, as part of our international growth strategy.’

Figures from the practices April 2011 annual report show a pre-tax turnover of £40.8 million, up 27 per cent from 2010. This encompasses trading for the UK business, the UAE business and services such as HR, finance and IT.  Staff numbers remain unchanged since workforce cuts in 2009.

Broadway Malyan also reports a turnover from business outside the UK of £25.7 million (up 80 per cent on 2010), and claims that it will continue its emphasis on overseas markets.
