Brassed on: new visitor centre unveiled in Lund

Spanish architect Carmen Izquierdo has completed this new brass alloy-clad visitor centre, in the Swedish city of Lund

Izquierdo of Carmen Izquierdo Arkitektkontor has worked with Swedish architecture practice Tham & Videgård, Stockholm’s Reflex Arckitekter and Madrid’s Àbalos& Herreros arquitectos

Linked to an neighbouring historic building, the Domkyrkoforum catherdal visitor centre aims to ‘add a new layer to the historic character of central Lund’.

The building links existing buildings, creating ‘a unified complex accommodating temporary exhibition spaces, café, auditorium, offices and meeting rooms’.

The design ‘mirrors the scale and lines of the surrounding cityscape to integrate into the city’s urban fabric and form new urban public spaces’
