BDP expands in Shanghai
BDP has signalled its intentions to expand in China by moving to larger offices in Shanghai.
The practice, which was ranked as the UK’s biggest architecture practice last year but has since made redundancies and closed four UK offices, has moved to the Urban City Centre in China’s capital.
It is understood the move is part of a broader strategy that has seen its design team in China grow in number.
BDP has been involved in China since 2007 and opened a studio at the end of last year to support its growth plans in the country.
This year, BDP has won work on urban regeneration, higher education, cultural, leisure, retail and housing projects across China.
Stephen Gillham, head of BDP’s Shanghai Studio, said: ‘To support BDP’s vision for China, our expanding portfolio and our growing design team, we are moving from premises we had already outgrown to a brand new building nearby in Shanghai’s Luwan District from where we will be able to provide even stronger solutions for our clients.’
