BDP bags Welsh rail station redesign

BDP’s Manchester office has been chosen to masterplan the redevelopment of a series of Welsh train stations, including Swansea

The upgrades are spearheaded by the Welsh Assembly Government and Arriva Trains Wales and will include the refurbishment of existing buildings as well as general station improvements.

BDP’s Peter Jenkins, who was in charge of the £60 million redevelopment of Manchester Piccadilly station in 2002, is set to lead the project.

At Swansea the concourse will be enlarged and new booking offices, toilets, shops and waiting shelters will be built.

Work is due to start in September.
