Bath Abbey to host conference on the transformation of historic buildings

Buro Happold and Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios are hosting an international conference, Power in Space, at Bath Abbey on Thursday 20 October 2011

The day will be spent discussing the transformation of historic buildings into places for contemporary culture. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with the medieval Abbey’s physical presence, using materials, light and sound to create a sensory and intellectual experience to remember.

Speakers from the world of theatre design and procurement include architects Eric Parry, Steve Tompkins, Liza Fior, project directors from the Tate and the RSC, and international guests working in Versailles and Venice.

In addition Buro Happold’s Mike Cook and Peter Clegg from Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios will be talking about the transformative power of space.

The conference is a charitable venture and any funds will be donated to the Abbey redevelopment fund. For more information, the agenda and to buy tickets, please visit
