Autumn Statement: Government to double number of SMEs it supports in overseas expansion

Among other measures to help SMEs, the chancellor announced that the government would double the number of SMEs it supports in its overseas expansion

‘Government will encourage many more of our small firms to export overseas for the first time,’ said Osborne. ‘We are doubling to 50,000 the number of SMEs and British mid-caps we help, who can sometimes lack the ambition of their German counterparts,’ he said.

Osborne also pledged the government would make it easier for UK firms to bid for government procurement contracts and it would give particular help to energy intensive industries, reported sister title Construction News.
