Architects' workloads on the rise

British architects received a workload boost in the second quarter of 2012, a report has revealed

The European Architectural Barometer by market research firm Arch-Vision found that the proportion of practices with significant growth in order books increased for the first time in a year.

One in 10 British practices saw their order books increase by 5 per cent or more in the three months to June.

However, this was dwarfed by the 23 per cent who saw their order books fall during that period.

British and German architects reported an average increase in turnover, while those from France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands reported overall falls.
