All Weather House, Ireland by ROEWUarchitecture

Up-and-coming London-based practice ROEWUarchitecture has completed this three-bedroom home for a retired couple in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland

Both the roof and walls of the 292,000 euro (£257,500), 160m2 project – dubbed the All Weather House – are covered in cedar shingles. ‘This consistent, arrayed material changes with the climate, glowing and fading with the durations of the weather and the seasons,’ said practice co-founder Stephen Roe. ‘On wet days it is a bright red colour, fading to a soft grey when dry.’
