AHMM wins go-ahead for City Road 'White Collar Factory'

Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has won planning for this 26,800m² redevelopment at City Road Estate next to Old Street roundabout, London

The £105 million project for Derwent London features a ‘centrepiece’ 16-storey office tower which will showcase the practice and developer’s new workplace typology, dubbed the White Collar Factory concept (AJ 15.09.2011).

As well as 25,200m² of commercial space, the scheme in London’s so-called Silicon Roundabout area also includes 900m² of shops and nine new homes in a ‘mixture of new and sensitively refurbished five to six storey buildings’.

John Burns, chief executive at Derwent London, said: We are delighted to have won this major planning consent, which follows closely on the heels of our recent planning success at 80 Charlotte Street, Fitzrovia.

‘The proposed City Road Estate scheme, incorporating our White Collar Factory concept, will be an exciting new project for the group at this up-and-coming location that is proving highly appealing to the technology and media sectors.’
