AHMM to overhaul BBC's television centre

AHMM is to oversee the overhaul of the 1950s BBC Television Centre in Shepherd’s Bush, west London

The practice is part of the victorious consortium led by developer Stanhope which, earlier this week, bought the Grade II-listed centre for £200 million.

The BBC’s public service divisions will remain on the site until staff have been relocated while the BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm, will become an anchor tenant. The famous Graham Dawbarn-designed building and wider plot will be converted into a mix of leisure, office and residential uses and opening it up ‘as envisaged in the GLA’s White City Opportunity Area masterplan’.

The scheme is set to complete by 2015.
