AECOM lands huge Singapore sports centre job

AECOM has won a competition to masterplan and landscape design a 35 hecatres sports hub park in Singapore

The waterfront development at Kallang Basin will be the home of Singapore’s new 55,000 seat national stadium. The park will also feature an Olympic size aquatic centre, a sports library, museum and 41,000m² of flexible retail space.

AECOM, which is rumoured to be eyeing up a top UK architect, is designing the park in collaboration with ArupSport and Singapore-based practice DPArchitects.

Jonathan Rose of AECOM Design + Planning said: ‘We are delighted to be part of this extremely important scheme which will is conceived to promote sports and healthy lifestyles as well as providing world-class facilities.’

The scheme is scheduled to complete in 2020 and is part of a government-led redevelopment project which will see Singapore’s population increase by 2 million.
