ADP extends Basil Spence's Sussex University

[FIRST LOOK] ADP has completed its project to build a new faculty building on Sussex University’s campus

The £7.5 million scheme - part of the practice’s masterplan for the extension of Sussex’s Basil Spence-designed campus - opened to students late last year.

Called the Fulton Building, the ground floor features two 150-seat lecture theatres and its upper floors comprises naturally ventilated seminar rooms which can seat up to 50 people. Arranged on a ‘flexible grid’, the rooms can also be adapted to other uses.

ADP’s structure creates one side of a new campus square which adjoins a Basil Spence-designed boiler house.

The materials ‘complement’ the aesthetic of the original campus buildings.
