Adam Khan completes work on New Horizon Youth Centre

[FIRST LOOK] Adam Khan Architects has completed its RIBA competition-winning refurbishment and extension of the New Horizon Youth Centre in King’s Cross, London

The new copper-roofed addition houses space for performances and workshops. The practice describes the centre, which helps young homeless people, as a ‘calm, big house offering stability and security’.

The scheme is part of the government-funded Myplace youth centre building programme.

Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow, chair of the New Horizon Youth Centre said: ‘This has been a brilliant and rewarding experience.

‘I’m particularly grateful to John McAslan for making the competition possible and to Ed Jones for being our RIBA mentor. That such great architects and the organisational resource of the RIBA should be devoted to so needy a project is uplifting indeed.’
