Accord's West Brom housing welcomes first residents

The Accord Group housing association has completed 29 affordable homes in the centre of West Bromwich in the West Midlands

The first phase of the £7.3 million scheme, designed by the housing association’s in-house architects, contains 29 three and four bedroom ‘energy efficient’ houses and apartments.

The development forms part of a £20 million joint regeneration scheme by Sandwell Council, Accord Group and the Homes and Communities Agency, for the Eastern Gateway site in the centre of West Bromwich..

Following the demolition of Salter’s 1936 factory building the 34-home second phase is scheduled for completion by July 2014.

Alan Yates, executive director of regeneration at the Accord Group, said: ‘It’s great to welcome the first families to Urban 180 and hear first-hand how happy they are in their new homes.

‘The town centre is transforming at a rapid pace and we were delighted to win the competition to develop a high-quality housing scheme in the town centre. We’re proud to be part of this extensive regeneration work.’
