RIBA freezes fees for third year in a row
The RIBA has announced it will freeze its annual membership fee for the third year running
In an effort to help ‘architects through challenging times’, the institute has revealed plans to keep subscription costs at 2009 levels.
The move was proposed by new RIBA President Angela Brady, and forms part of the RIBA’s wider programme of support for the profession through the economic challenges it is currently facing.
Speaking today (14 October), RIBA President Angela Brady said: ‘The RIBA is here to serve its members and our members make RIBA the collective voice for architecture. I’m personally committed to ensuring that the institute does all it can support the profession, and this move is intended to help architects through the challenging times we are facing.’
The current full subscription rate will remain at £241.00 for architects who are 1–5 years qualified and £370.00 for those who are more than five years qualified.
For those RIBA members on hardship rates, the subscription rate remains at £74.00 and £30.00 for those on the extreme hardship rate.
RIBA Subscription rates:
- Chartered membership 2011
Runs from January to December. If elected at the June and October Council meetings, members will initially pay the half-price rates (shown in brackets)
UK Chartered membership 2011
Over five years qualified - £370 (£185)
One to five years qualified - £241 (£120.50)
Overseas Chartered membership 2011
Over five years qualified - £296 (£148)
One to five years qualified - £192 (£96)

Concession rates for students, the over 60s and the unemployed (proof is required upon application) and for CIAT, Landscape Institute members:

The RIBA Associate Membership year runs from January to December. If you are elected at the June and October Council meetings, you will initially pay the half-price rates:

The subscription rates are calculated using the date a member successfully gained their RIBA Part II qualification, to move them gradually towards RIBAChartered Membership.
