Contest: design the Olympic torch

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and the Design Council are looking for teams of designers to create the torches for the 2012 London Games

More than 8,000 people will carry the torch bearing the Olympic flag across the UK, starting from 18 May 2012.

At lunchtime and at night, special cauldrons and lanterns will be lit to ensure the Olympic flame is not extinguished – these will also need to be designed as part of the competition.

The torch will be carried into the Olympic Stadium in London’s East End on 27 July 2012, where it will light the main cauldron of the Games.

Interested parties can register with the CompeteFor procurement service.
