Construction industry employment has grown in the past year, official data has shown
The Office for National Statistics revealed that 1,305,000 people worked in the sector in April to June 2013.
This was up 0.9 per cent from the same period a year earlier, in line with the all-sectors increase of 1.0 per cent.
It was also the highest level of construction employment since the third quarter of 2012.
Women are to some extent replacing men in construction jobs.
While the number of women in the industry grew by 15,000, or 7.3 per cent, in the year to the second quarter of 2013, the number of men dropped by 4,000.
AJ reported last month that architecture firms were hopeful of growing workloads this year.
