The second annual Sustainable Planning Awards 2009 launched on Wednesday 1st October at the Orchard Building, Stranmillis University College. Presentations will be made to the winners in February 2009.
Categories include:
Sustainable Communities and Regeneration – generally larger schemes involving regeneration and strong community participation. Award sponsored by DSD.
Rural Areas and the Natural Environment – often smaller schemes focussing on benefits to the environment, from biodiversity to clear air and water. Award sponsored by Planning Service.
Urban Development and the Built Environment – projects incorporating sustainable solutions to issues arising in urban areas, such as transport, design and space. Award sponsored by Action Renewables.
