Collective Architecture designs Glasgow slave trade exhibition

Collective Architecture has designed a new installation at Glasgow’s Briggait exploring Scotland’s relationship with the slave trade

The exhibition entitled ‘The Empire Café’ is set to open on Thursday (24 July) as part of a series of cultural events running alongside the 2014 Commonwealth Games which begin this week.

The Empire Café was founded by Jude Barber of Glasgow-based Collective Architecture and author Louise Welsh, and will explore the slave trade through coffee, sugar, tea, cotton, music, visual art, academic lectures, poetry, debate, workshops, historical walks, film and literature.

The exhibition is open until 1 August 2014.
