Clash Architects unveils new art centre - images

Clash Architects has revealed these images for a new art facility for people with learning disabilities, in the heart of Derbyshire.

The Level Centre in Rowsley will be the new home for the First Movement Trust - an arts organisation dedicated to developing high-quality arts projects with people with learning disabilities.

The building, which has received funding from the Arts Council England and the East Midlands Development Agency among others, will provide studios and new digital-arts technology, and will be a secure long-term base for the organisation.

Handmade textured bricks, charcoal-coloured zinc roofing, and clear and white translucent glass will be used throughout the facility in an effort to create 'a building which sits well within the community yet has a private and understated character'.

Work is expected to start on site soon and the scheme is scheduled for completion in March 2008.
