Carey Jones to build big in Bolton

Carey Jones has bagged itself a massive £200 million mixed-use project in Bolton.

Part of the Ask:Bluemantle joint venture team - chosen as preferred developer by Bolton Council last week - the practice has been asked to draw up plans for nearly 600 homes and 32,000m2 of office space on the 5ha Church Wharf site.

The 10-block scheme will include a new leisure quarter featuring a six-screen cinema, 10 café, bar and restaurant units, a new 80-bed hotel, a multi-storey car park and 650m2 of shops.

There are also plans for 'extensive landscaping and an eye-catching footbridge' across the River Croal leading to Churchgate and into the town centre.

Detailed proposals are expected to be submitted for planning before the end of the year and, if they get the green light, work could start on site in May 2008.
