Capita Symonds unwraps BSF Academy

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS + DATA] Capita Symonds’ South Wolverhampton & Bilston Academy has welcomed its first students

The academy for 1,200 pupils, which specialises in civil engineering, social care and medical science, forms part of the Partnerships for Schools Building Schools for the Future initiative.

Four learning zones with a mix of cellular and specialist accommodation, each on a dedicated storey of the building, are wrapped around several large open-planned areas.

Classrooms open onto an open central area, with a series of voids opening up double and triple height top-lit spaces interspersed with centralised accommodation: a lecture theatre, hall and café.

Platforms at different levels provide views between the stories, while wide internal staircases that link the floors provide additional informal lecture areas.

The main entrance is at first floor level, working with the slope of the site, and provides views from the entrance foyer down into the double height engineering hall.
