The project in the gateway town of Marcon, just north of one of Italy's most famously beautiful cities, will overhaul and rebrand the 55,000m 2centre.
According to a spokesman for the practice, the design has been inspired by the 'traditional crafts of Venice' and will incorporate Murano glass, arranged into long panels of overlapping colour.
The spokesman went on to describe the scheme as 'echoing the ripples and the surface movements of water' and the stair towers, trolley shelters and entrance will be clad in internally lit, coloured polycarbonates.
The plant and service accesses will be hidden behind new, wooden louvre screens.
Work on is due to start on site in spring next year.
