Broadway Malyan scoops Bolton regeneration project

Broadway Malyan has beaten off a shortlist of some of Britain's hottest architectural talent to scoop a major regeneration project in Bolton.

The practice emerged from a shortlisted pack of six firms to win the brief, it was announced yesterday.

The other shortlisted practices were: Arup with Outerspace; Ash Sakula Architects; Cole Thompson Anders Architects; Levitt Bernstein Landscape Architecture with Team A Go-Go and Taylor Young (AJ+ 21.09.05).

The judges said they felt that the sketch ideas presented by Broadway Malyan were 'distinctive, inventive and refreshing'.

The council-run Bolton Great Estates Competition aims to revitalise the town's housing stock and attracted interest from architects, landscape architects, town planners and urban designers.

Noel Spencer, spokesperson for competition organiser and housing management organisation Bolton at Home, said: 'We are looking forward to working with Broadway Malyan and our customers to help us to deliver a new approach to making our estates look better and become great places to live.'
