Bloxham heads up urban steering group

Urban Splash chief Tom Bloxham is to take the helm of a new steering group at Urban Task Force initiator IPPR's Centre for Cities, the AJ has learned.

The entrepreneur will be joined at the left-leaning think tank by CABE deputy chief executive Joanna Averley and ShedKM director James Weston to take charge of the group's strategic direction, it has emerged.

Other members of the steering group include Denton Wilde Sapte partner Stephen Ashworth; Sheffield Hallam University vice chancellor Diana Green and former Loadededitor James Brown.

Bloxham said: 'I'm delighted to be heading up the Centre for Cities steering group. The centre is already one of the country's leading voices on urban policy.

'The whole steering group is looking forward to working with [Centre for Cities chief] Dermot [Finch] and his team on influencing the urban debate in cities and in Whitehall.'

According to the think tank, the steering group will review the centre's progress; steer the future direction of the centre's output; identify key areas for further research and 'build on the centre's high-level networks in government, business and specific cities.'
