Big names come together for huge new Sheffield scheme

A raft of big-name architects have come together to design this vast new scheme for Sheffield.

Glen Howells Architects, Jestico + Whiles and Aedas have been appointed with masterplanner Urbed and developer Castlmore Securities to work up the £315 million development in the city's centre.

The scheme's partners have been set the challenge of creating a 'dynamic riverside quarter' including a 100,000m 2mixed-use development.

The scheme will also house a new home for the University of Sheffield's School of Architecture.

The project also will include 46,500m 2of new office space, 8,400m 2of retail and leisure space, including a bars, restaurants and shops, a 240-bed 4- or 5-star hotel and 550 apartments.
