Aukett takes on Cardiff's historic Coal Exchange

Aukett Fitzroy Robinson has won planning permission to radically rework one of Cardiff's most historic buildings.

The English practice will oversee a £20 million redevelopment of the Grade II*-listed Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay.

The building - which was the site of the world's first £1 million business deal - will house a mixture of offices and residential units.

Its central hall, which has recently been used for concerts, will be retained and upgraded and will continue as a music venue.

Developers hope to start on the project early in the New Year.
