HKR splinters

What exactly is going on at HKR Architects, I hear you ask? A good question

Since last summer, the practice’s Manchester office has broken away (to form 5plus Architects), its Belfast outpost is now trading as Rapport Architects, and the once 180-strong Dublin headquarters effectively ceased trading on 31 July, leaving behind a skeleton staff on the payroll of the London office.

What’s more, Astragal hears that David King-Smith, one of three directors at HKR’s remaining London stronghold, has recently decided to relinquish his role to become a consultant. The Irish practice was once ranked 50th in the AJ100 league tables, with £20 million in international fees (2008).
