Boxing meets architecture: more Balboa than Bilbao

Astragal sends his congratulations to Stephen Franks, an associate at HLN Architects, who last week was named Britain’s unlicensed boxing heavyweight champion

Weighing in at 102kg, the 46-year-old is living testament to the architect breed’s fighting spirit. Speaking to Astragal, he said:‘I train and train and train the same way I do in architecture.’

He added: ‘HLN Architects is a great company to work for and very supportive.’

Franks took to the ring after staff at the practice’s Cardiff office were forced to go down to a four-day week due to the recession. He said: ‘I’ve got a family and it was a way to earn an additional income.’
