Architect wars in Birmingham

‘It’s very difficult for me to criticise another architect,’ said John Madin during a recent interview with the Birmingham Post

Having apparently overcome his anguish, he then launched into a blistering attack against Mecanoo’s proposed replacement of his brutalist Birmingham Central Library (pictured).

Madin accused the new scheme of being a ‘disgraceful waste of taxpayers’ money’, adding it was unlikely to stand the test of time.
