All at sea with Foster

Well, well. It seems a nautically-minded Norman Foster can be as successful as a land-based one.

Astragal read with interest this week the yacht he designed for the firm YachtPlus - the Ocean Emerald - has attracted 20 buyers who will each pay at least £1.6 million for an eighth of the boat. This means the lucky buyers will be guaranteed access to the finest English-design for a full 34 days of the year, including 11 days in the Mediterranean in the summer, 11 in the Caribbean in the winter and two six-day cruises during the rest of the year. Oh, and don’t forget the annual service charge (for 34 days?) of £180,000. You cannot put a price on quality, clearly. Or good sense…
