Holyrood? Hollywood?

On receiving the RIBA Royal Gold Medal last week, Chinese-American architect IM Pei explained that if his father had had his way, Pei might have been a great British architect

‘But I wanted to go to America, because I loved Hollywood!’ he added. Pei’s father on the other hand, seems to have preferred Edinburgh’s Holyrood. ‘My father wanted me to study in the UK because he had many good friends who were Scottish bankers,’ he explained, perhaps unaware that this is no longer something to shout about.
