Architecture centres handed CABE Cash

CABE has dished out £1.9 million to architecture centres across the country.

The cash includes £350,000 for London-based organisations, including the Architecture Foundation, charity Open House and New London Architecture.

Other centres getting hand-outs include Hull's Architecture and Built Environment Centre (ARC) and RENEW, the North West Regional Centre of Excellence.

New London Architecture will get £40,000 towards events. London Open House will receive £80,000 for London Exemplar, a programme aimed at improving local councillors' understanding of design issues, and the Architecture Foundation will get £115,000 for a series of high-profile public debates.

Money is also being given to the Building Exploratory to deliver 'Building Connections', a programme to offer 'quality built environment experiences' to Hackney schoolchildren.
