Allies and Morrison throws open doors on South Place Hotel

  • Comment

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] Allies and Morrison’s 80 bedroom boutique hotel has opened in City of London

Located on a narrow City block close to Moorgate underground station, the scheme for developer Frogmore features 80 bedrooms, two restaurants, a rooftop terrace, three bars, a conference facility and private dining rooms.

The interiors were designed by Conran + Partners and D&D London is the hotel’s operator.

The building’s eaves align with neighbouring blocks and the cladding ‘folds back’ to form a mansard roof with dormer windows cut into it.

The façade is composed of a layered surface, the innermost composed of glass and a bronze coloured metal and the outer is an aluminium rainscreen panel which articulates the plan arrangement of the hotel rooms within the overall structure.

The scheme is designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent and provide CO2 savings of 40 per cent below Part L 2006 requirements.
