Alexandra Tower set for Liverpool

Work is about to start on Alexandra Tower, a new 26-storey residential skyscraper at Princes Dock in Liverpool.

The £22 million development will be the third scheme on the site to have been designed by AFL Architects. The others include a £33 million twin-tower housing scheme and an office block, which has already been completed.

The new Alexandra Tower will contain 201 contemporary apartments, ranging from one-bedroom flats to duplex penthouse suites, as well as office space and six storeys of parking

Commissioned by Millennium Estates, the building will occupy the southern corner of the dock with views over the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay.

AFL director Garry Rowlands said: 'Princes Dock is an aspirational location for many professionals to work, but the area previously lacked residential accommodation.

'This development will not only boost the number of new properties available in the area, but will also address the need for stylish apartments that reflect current lifestyle trends,' he added.

The tower is expected to be completed by summer 2007.
