A gallery of sketches: the drawings of Birds Portchmouth Russum

The AJ presents the best of the 400 drawings produced by Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects for its recently completed Downley House in Hampshire which features in this week’s magazine

The three founding partners Richard Portchmouth, Andrew Birds and Mike Russum all worked for Stirling Wilford before they founded the practice in 1989 and their exquisite pen and ink axonometrics are reminisant of their progenitors James Stirling and Michael Wilford.

In 2011 the practice won the £10,000 architecture prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for two combined submissions - one a house in Wood Lane, north London, the other a scheme in Jersey (AJ 02.06.2011).
