The winning scheme uses recycled tyres to build the shed.

Some are glazed as windows; others are boarded up to store gardening paraphenalia. This offers a flexible solution to shed owners, who can create their own walls to satisfy their specific needs.

The judges were impressed by this flexible approach, and by the fact that it was not a prescriptive romantic dream but a solution that could work in a range of places, incorporating the ad hoc nature of so many sheds.

The judges comments included:

'An alluring sketch that sets the scene perfectly for the proposal which itself stands out as completely different.' (Ruth Slavid)

'An intelligent idea that is well presented, drawing the reader's mind into the concept.' (Amir Sanei)

'A charming proposal which presents a familiar idea in a setting in which it feels right.' (Alastair Parvin)
