Project Orange unveils Moscow house

  • Comment

The basalt and Siberian larch-clad house for a leafy location is currently on site in the Russian city

The two-storey house and adjoining garage features a 3m-high basalt-clad wall.

James Soane, director at Project Orange said: ‘By taking the wall through the varying conditions of inside, outside and into the pool building beyond, the wall becomes the focal point of the design, wrapping around the site and bringing the outside in.

Soane added: ‘The design of the house and choice of materials plays on the idea of the traditional ‘country house’ aesthetic, using natural materials such as larch and the slate to further blend the house into its’ surroundings.‘

The house is split into two zones for ‘formal’ and ‘informal’ living providing different areas to entertain guests and live in.

The project is due to complete in December 2013.
