Never one to upbraid the Dutch

It has to be said that the good staffers of the AJ have a world of time for almost anything Dutch. From the wonderful architectural atmosphere that fosters innovative social housing to the two comedy policemen in The Fast Show, Holland has really got it going on. And now there’s more. One Meschab Gaba has been brought to Astragal’s attention and the Netherlands has jumped even higher in his estimation. A Benin-born Rotterdam resident, Ms Gaba braids famous buildings into people’s hair. Quite why one would want the ‘gherkin’ or the New York Guggenheim as a hairdo is quite beyond us all here, but it’s certainly spectacular. And odd. And definitely very Dutch. Take a look here on Sunday when some of these sculptures are going to be on show at Cargo in King’s Cross. is where you can buy tickets if this turns out to be your kind of thing. It’s all gone a bit weird.
